How to set up Teams on a Windows 11 PC

  • To use Microsoft Teams on Windows 11, click the blue Chat icon in your taskbar to open the integrated chat feature, sign in with your Microsoft account, and select the option to go to the full Microsoft Teams app for work or school if needed. You can also download the desktop app from the Microsoft website for more advanced features, then install and sign in to start using Teams to chat, meet, and collaborate.
    Using the Built-in Chat Feature
    Windows 11 includes a basic chat integration of Microsoft Teams for personal use.
    1. 1. Open Chat:
      Click the blue Chat icon in the taskbar or use the keyboard shortcut Windows key + C.
    2. 2. Sign In:
      Select "Get started" and sign in with your Microsoft account.
    3. 3. Access Teams for Work:
      You will see an option to go to the full Microsoft Teams app for work or school.
    4. 4. Use Features:
      From the pop-up, you can start a meeting, begin a new conversation, or open the full Teams application.
    Downloading and Installing the Full Teams App
    For a complete experience with work or school accounts, download the desktop app from Microsoft.
    1. Go to the Microsoft Teams Download Page: Open a web browser and go to the Microsoft Teams website.
    2. Download the Desktop App: Select the option to "Download for desktop".
    3. Choose an Option: Choose between "Teams for home" or "Teams for work or school".
    4. Run the Installer: Run the downloaded .exe file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
    5. Sign In: Open the installed Teams app and sign in with your Microsoft account (personal, work, or school email).
    What You Can Do in Teams
    Once signed in, you can:
    • Chat: Send instant messages to individuals or groups.
    • Meet: Host video meetings with features like PowerPoint Live and Whiteboard.
    • Call: Make and receive calls with features like group calling and voicemail.
    • Collaborate: Share files, create teams, and keep everyone in sync using channels and shared task lists.
